The poncho Barbie is wearing is a gift for her friend. Then I had made 2 the weekend before last for 2 of my Grand daughters birthdays, Happy Birthday Destiny and Madison!!! The rest of the photos are of the grandkids spending the day at Grandma's and Grandpa's house for dinner and fun! We had a glorious day!!! I had tons of fun and remembered how much I love little kids and how we all need to look at life through there eyes! Thanks kids for a wonderful day!!!

Sewing and my diet news

First I have to share I have lost 43 lbs and am eating healthier than I have in years! I fast walk (with a 2 lb weight in each hand) 2 miles 6 days a wk. I am so proud of me!!! This is a splurge day hubby cooked me this wonderful meal and it looked so pretty on the plate I had to share.

Next I had to share the Hello Kitty purse I made this is the lining I ended up using Garfield fabric as I am broke and had this on hand. Hope she loves it

And this is the finished purse. I went online and found a coloring page of Hello Kitty then enlarged it and used it for the base pattern. Then added the eyes and nose with felt, I used embroidery floss for the whiskers. And I added a Macrame cord for the handle. Turned out pretty cute. I know she will like it as she is only 6 :)

Yet another BD gift and some Knitting

Today I dyed some yarn it was a dark pink now a red not quite as bright as this picture as my Durango is charcoal gray and it looks almost blue in this picture. This yarn has a plan will be a hat striped with black and purple for a child in Russia in a orphanage. I joined a group last year and we knit for 16 yr old that are about to go into the world and it gets 40 below 0 in the winter. We knit for each child-1 sweater-1 hat-1 set of mittens-1 scarf-2 pair of socks. If you would like to join just look in Yahoo groups Mittens_for_AKKOL Its a wonderful group. These Mittens are for the same group! The boys have large hands for sure !

I made 2 sets for this child so he can wear double!

And a Hat to match. Was knit looking like a sausage at first then you bring both ends together and its a double hat!!! All Wool so warm in that 40 below zero weather.

These socks are for a girl in the orphanage. Thin socks we call them. Each child picks the colors they want.

Another child picked shades of blue and my dyeing isn't that good yet (my colors split a bit) so they have a touch of purple but the boys seem to like the purple so it will be OK!

And last but NEVER Least! My Birthday gift that arrived today. I have made friends with a wonderful family through my Etsy shop. Desiree is one of the daughters of the lady who I originally met. Any way Desiree sent me this beautiful Alpaca and koolaid for dyeing. I love the gray color alone so will use the koolaid for other dyeing jobs. Thanks Desiree so so much. (her mom is the one that sent me the cake in the mail and the beautiful red yarn from her shop for my BD too!!! So wonderful to have such loving people in my life! God Bless you All!!!

Birthday Presents

This is how the cake looked after traveling in the mail from TN to Indiana. Wow!

Tomorrow is my Birthday! I will be 53 years young! Today in the mail this box came. Inside this box from Tennessee came via the US Mail. Inside it was most of a cake and 2 skeins of this beautiful red yarn I have been eyeballing for wk! This is all from my Online friend Nikki aka My 7 Kids online. Winter has been a bit late this year for us. I had to share some snow pictures but we may not be done yet as they are calling for freezing rain and 6 to 8 inches this weekend. They can't seem to decide if it will be here or up north of us so time will tell. The ice cycles are right next to Barbie's room the other views are across the street and next to us is where the picnic table is. If you look in the first picture you can see my antenna buddy my sister sent me!

New Purse

Thursday I paid my bills and did a stupid thing. Left my purse on the floor. I have a male dachshund (Angus) and sometimes he decides he needs to mark things. You guessed it he not only marked my purse he soaked it. This was the type of purse you couldn't wash so the trash it went. I wasn't going anywhere (or so I thought) so I wasn't too concerned about it. Then Thursday night we got horrible news. A very good friend of Barbie's older brother decided to end his young life (16) I thought about telling Barbie all day that day and I did when she got home from school. It upset her but she didn't cry that day. I know for a 10 yr old its gotta be hard to grasp death. Then Saturday her friend and the mom and bother came buy our house for a little visit. We talked hugged cried ect...... Barbie played in her room with her friend. Today we went to the showing and that hit Barbie like a ton of bricks. The boy was in a open casket and Barbie wanted to say her good byes. I was close to this family because of the girls and had known this boy. He was a sweet boy and loved Barbie treated her like a sister too. So it hit us all pretty hard. To see a mother loose her first child and he was only 16 yrs old is a rough thing to begin with. Makes me realize I need to get back to church and appreciate my life and all the wonderful people in it.

Any way Here is the purse I whipped up (all hand sewing) no sewing machine touched this purse:) I put pockets in it (one for wallet-cigarettes-glasses-cell phone-pens) anyway the pictures aren't very good. But it gives you an idea.

My feet have been freezing lately so I decided I needed another pair of wool socks! I spun this yarn and then dyed it as it was a gray color. I think they turned out pretty nice and now my feet are nice and toasty in the house!!!

I have been doing a bit of knitting. The socks and neck scarf were made for my sister Pat's birthday(Happy Birthday Pat!) She loved them and that makes me so so happy! The fish hat was for Barbie's friend Zack's Birthday! He loved it also. The book markers were made for Valentine's day for my grand daughter Colleen. I pray she received them and loved them. I am not allowed to talk to her so I will only pray they arrived safely and her aunt allowed her to have them. I know she loves to read so I thought she would like these. OH and the other blue hat was made for Barbie! I wanted to see how it turned out as I am knitting a hat and mittens for a child in Russia who is 16 he will be set free from an Orphanage he has lived in his whole life and a group I belong to sends knit sweaters-hats-mittens-socks-scarves to these kids who go out into there world. It get 40 below 0 in the winter there so I wanted him to be warm.

Today I decided to make Barbie a pair of mittens found some Moda Dea Tweedle Dee yarn in my stash. I think they came out quite nicely!
So sitting here filling out applications and feeling a bit sorry for myself. (I shouldn't I am blessed with wonderful friends and a roof over my head) Times are tough for all right now, not enough jobs to go around and struggling to keep ends met. Any way the post lady came and I got this wonderful surprise box.
(I do have some just wonderful friends who spoil me) One of my dearest friends Jill in Brooklyn sent me this box with the softest fiber and a spindle and some very soft yarn. Thanks Jill you made my day!!!! I am thankful for my God, My faith, My dear husband and all my children and my sisters and brother, My in laws who treat me like I am part of the family and all the rest of my husbands family, my country, All of my dear Friends, a roof over my head and all the convinces of living in this century!!!

Barbie's socks I knitted and some yarn I dyed

Somehow Barbie's feet grew by bounds and leaps and I didn't have the funds to get her more at that point. So I decided to knit her some. These are the results! We have gotten her more store socks but I think I will be knitting socks for a while now as she loves the handknit ones. Also I got a sweater from Good Will yesterday it was 100% lambs wool and a light muted blue so I unraveled it and dyed it this is the result of one skien I ened up with 4 skiens.

Trick or Treat

Barbie is in the witch costume and her best friend Unique is in the bee costume. We had a wonderful Halloween, Barbie raking in the candy. Most of which she will give away as she always ends up doing and I love that fact. We had a trunk or treat in our community held by our church and they served us hot cocoa, then we hit a few houses here. It was very enjoyable And here is a picture of her pumpkin she carved too!

Socks

The green socks are about done and they are done in wool ease by lion brand. Barbie needed some sleeping socks to keep her feet warm at night

This pair of socks were knit for my friend Nikki for just being her. She is the sweetest person and works very hard every day for her family. She has been beyond kind to me. Thanks Nikki I started out with some recycled light green worsted lambs wool yarn dyed it purple and then unplyed it to get a skinnier yarn. It was a labor of love. In case this wording (as I cant predict how blogger does this) is for the purple socks that by the way are on Nikki's feet in the picture.

Baby Sweater

Here is the newest sweater I have made for my darling newest grandaughter Harmoney. I took apart a Goodwill sweater and unraveled the yarn then dyed it pinks. Then I knitted up this little sweater. I totally enjoyed making this hat. I still have problems with the short rows and counting so you can see a few imperfections. I am sure my little Evan (my handsome little grandson) will not mind or even notice for that matter. I am hopeful that it fits his head and will have more pictures to post later hopefully with him wearing it. The front view is the correct color not sure why the top view turned out different. Spinning gifts!

I am tickled pink! Daniel (my oldest son) and Amanda his girlfriend, Went to a fair in Seattle somewhere. They found some sheep sheering and thought of me! So they called me and asked if I would spin up some yarn for Amanda and Cecilia and knit them matching scarfs. I am so thrilled that they thought of me. They sent the package off the darker wool is for there scarfs. The lighter stuff is for me and what I think I want to do is dye it blue or maybe half of it blue and leave half white and then ply them together and make me gloves for winter. And the best part I got pictures of my grandbabies!!! They also sent me a nice card and a starbucks gift card. I am so so pleased. Thanks Kids you made my wk!!!

I needed a new wallet

So I made one! The wallet I had was way to big for my purse and made it hard to find anything in it. So I looked and looked online for a wallet for just credit cards or that type. As I have a bunch of cards about that size. Not exactly credit cards but like store cards, gift cards (Thanks Dan and Amanda for the Starbucks card!) And then I made this. I just made it up as I went making sure I had room for all my cards and such. Let me know what you think!!

This little hat has a story: I was making the pumpkin hat (see post a couple below this) for my grand daughter. I wanted to try it on a child about her age to see if it fit. Light bulb moment, The little girl next door "Marisa who is 2" she would make a perfect tester. Well the hat fit her so it was all good. Then she looked up at me and said thank you. OPPS Now I had another hat to make. I carefully told her I had made that hat for my Grand daughter but would she like one like it or something else? She said Hello Kitty. So here is her hat and her beautiful little face!!!

Cecilla is my Grand daughter who lives in Washington state, I live in Indiana. So needless to say I miss her dearly and love her! I wanted to make her a hat and a little birdie told me her pet name (by her grandfather on her moms side) calls her pumpkin, so the hat idea came about. I wanted her to feel the love and warmth of her Grandmothers love so I spun this yarn up, and knitted her up this hat! Her Mom and Dad (Amanda and Daniel) sent me the pictures of her wearing it, this brings joy to my heart!!! Thanks Kids!!! Thank you Cecilla for loving your hat!!! By the way That is her Dad (my son Dainel) Isent he handsome! In the seconed picture with her!

My Vacation

Ok this is long long over due since we have been back home since July. Life has a way of getting away with you. We had such a wonderful time, words can not describe how wonderful it all was. To begin with my sisters have this wonderful house that they so graciously shared with us. My sister Pat would not let me lift a finger to do a thing. I was so rested when I returned home. And spoiled!!! My sister Brenda drove us around to various places and we had such wonderful times sitting on her beautiful balcony just chatting and enjoying each others company. They showered us (Barbie and I) with gifts and love. We got to spend time with my Sister Bea, her kids Rachael and Dawn and there beautiful children Olivia and Hannah. Bea took us to the beach (a real beach where there are ocean waves ect...) It was wonderful to see Barbie have such a wonderful time in the ocean. My Long time friend Lori and her daughter Elizabeth joined us at the beach and while Barbie and Elizabeth boggy boarded the waves and Lori watched the kids I got away with Bea and we shopped the shops on Ocean Beach. Rachael took the time to stop and go into a crowded restaurant and buy me this wondrous taco that had shrimp and lobster. Man was that good. Thanks Rachael!!! We went to a pool party for Olivia's birthday at her Grandma's house where they have a pool. Donna (Olivia's grandma) was so gracious she found out Barbie's birthday was close to Olivia's and included Barbie in the celebration with gifts and half the cake was hers too!!! Thanks Donna for such a wonderful time. Then Bea and I a few days later shopped the thrift stores. Brenda and Pat took us to a Padres game where Barbie got a free hat and was in heaven with watching the ball game. There stadium is awesome there!!! Then they took us to Sea World where the day went way to fast but we enjoyed every minute of it. Pat took us on the bus to The San Diego Zoo. Barbie had a ball there. Too much to see in such little time but what we did see was well worth it. We also had a pool get together at Bea's house where we had a cook out right at the pool. And Bea made us a spaghetti dinner at her house on Barbie's birthday and bought her this tiny cake, it was Devinne. I know I have forgotten a few things to mention but it was so wonderful and all crammed in 2 wks that I will remember it later and sit back and say to myself how come I didn't mention that it was so much fun!!! LOL Thank you Brenda and Pat and Bea for such a wonderful Vacation. OH and we did get to spend a day with Lori and her kids, I miss you so so much Lori! WE have been friends for years. She had a cook out for us and her I and Barbie went for a swim in her pool. Its so refreshing to spend time with a long time friend I miss so much!!! God Bless you all and thank you a million times over for such a wonderful Vacation!!!! OK here are some pic too/

Fingerless gloves

All these fingerless gloves have a story to go with. My wonderful sisters in California sent me a gift of a plane ticket (ok 2 of them) One for me one for Barbie! We will be departing Indianapolis on June 30th and arriving back on July 15th. Two beautiful weeks with my beautiful sisters!!! And to add iceing to that cake we get to spend it in Sunny California!!! Can't wait to get to the beach!!! An Ocean beach at that, to me that is the only kind of beach!!! I have not seen 2 of the three sisters since Barbie was about 3 or 4 I forget. And she will be 9 on July 6th. So it has been too too long! OK about the fingerless gloves. There is a pair for each sister (3 of them) and a pair for a dear friend of there's. Then the tiny one (yes I have to make the other) will end up being 2 pair like that for my 2 Great Nieces! I had to bring a gift to them and of coarse it had to be something I made. Now I relize that they wont be wearing them till winter and really there is not much need where they live, but one sister goes to the dunes and she can use them there and one sister goes to the mountains so she can use hers. They do get chilly in the winter as they live in a Valley. There you have it my fingerless gloves story. I had better get busy and get the next 2 gloves done.........Hugs and God Bless All

Looking at these 3 pictures I see a girl who has grown so quickly. Maybe I am just getting old as time is so relitive. She was just learning to walk yesterday it seems. And I remember sending her off to school on the bus and crying not long ago. I was doing the crying not her LOL. IN MEMORY OF DUKE A BEST FRIEND

I know this blog is about my crafts, but this is a special post about a dear friend who went to dogie heaven yesterday. I will miss him dearly. He came into our lives when Baribe was 3 months old. Hubby was watching TV and they had a special thing by the pound showing dogs that were up for adoption. Duke was one they showcased. We went there thinking we would get a pup for our family. I didn't really want a full sized dog but as fate would have it Duke was about the only pup we could decide on. He was also 3 months old. We brought him home and here he lived through 2 little girls (My grand daughter came to live near us at that time) growing up with him, pulling his tail, and just generally being little kids playing with him. He was always gentle and never bit a one of them even if they hurt him stepped on him ect... He loved Jeremiah (my step son) and slept with him often played outside with both our boys (Jeremiah and Little Charles) I remember he would go out in the yard when the boys would play ball and run after them like he was herding them and nip at there ankles never hurting or breaking the skin, just doing what he thought was his job. When we got him we knew he may have problems as he had deformed hips, the vet said from over breading. He was full Collie and the best dog and friend I had ever had. We had to have him put to sleep yesterday as he developed intestine cancer. He was suffering and we just couldn't let that happen. So today I needed to tell the world what a great dog he was! (Veronica is a friend of mines daugher (Nikki's daughter) She lives in Tenn. so it will be a bit before it gets there. I'm so excited to see if she likes it. Home made swift

A friend of mine (thanks Nikki) found this blog and sent me the link. I just love the idea of homemade and cheep, since I realy didn't have the money for a swift. I made mine just a bit different but same idea basicly, I found the lazy susan at Goodwill for 2.99, the hangers and closepins I had and the tin was one I had. I screwed the tin to the lazy susan, cut and bent the tin to keep the hangers in place and used some medical tape to cover the sharp edges. I was given the ball winder and it sat in my fabric chest for a year or more. Now I'm like a child in a candy store! So so many balls or cute little cakes to make and so little time. Part of it is to have a contest "Most creative Easter Basket" So Barbie and I put our heads together and a big pile of craft things and this is what we made. Roving and Yarn!

I had to share my latest yarn! I bought the fiber from two different people on Etsy. The first the varagated color one was from Smokeymountain fibers http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=65227 She has some awsome fibers! The seconed is called pumpkin pie and its from WCMercantile.( http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5685499 ) they consist of the varagated from Smokeymountain fibers is 100% Merino wool and 3.7 oz. The seconed one the pumpkin pie is Four ounces of Merino Top. All this yarn spun up like heaven!!! And I adore every inch of the 350 yards of worsted weight I got from them I hopeing to make 2 little pumpkin hats for my greatnieces who will be born this June! Today I went looking for this yarn I want to knit my sister a nice lace scarf with. Well, when searching I found this yarn I spun up about 4 years ago. It was one of my first spindle spun yarn. I laughed while knitting it. Over spun spots, thin and thick ect. Well it was screaming make me into a bag so that is what I did. Didn't use any pattern just faked it as I went. Then Felted it. I'm considering putting it on my etsy sight and selling it for say 20 dollars? Not sure if it would sell. What do you think?

Thelma is very helpfull if you have any problems. The tail confused me and she helped alot! Along with My Friend Shelly who helped me alot as I have this thinking or non thinking problem. Ok now looking at the pic I see its not my very best work. Seems latley i can't do directions too well. and you can see where I attempted to weave in the tail on the cuff. uggh But that is the first glove for Barbie since it has been below Zero temps here for several days. Actually I make her wear gloves and then mittens over them or mittens and then fingerless gloves over that and she can't go out for long any way. These are from some of my homespun yarn. You will have to excuse me as you probally can tell im frustrated with my not being able to make anything. I had a pair of socks started but had to frog them because I kept messign up. Had to share this yarn I have been spinning on latley. My wonderful friend Jill sent me (just because) this soft soft lambs wool, yes it was quite a bit ago. I had washed it but with the holidays I had no time to card and spin it. It has turned out so nice and I'm so happy for friends like Jill. I can now share what I made for Barbie For Christmas! 3 sweat type outfits for her american girl doll that didn't arrive on time due to its on back order. The doll her sister ordered for her and they apperently ran out at the factory. The outfit done in blues is for her bitty baby she already has. Then a little back pack for her doll. She asked mom for clothes like she wears for her doll so she can get her ready for School also. Then I had to knit the poncho,hat, mittens, that are pictured also. She also recived from me not pictured here lace doll socks and another hat and scarf for Bitty baby doll.

A new cake plate, and some handmade tree ornaments

I found this lost cake plate in Goodwill. I'm sure someone broke the lid and tossed it there way hoping someone could use it. I just had to bake a cake once it came home with me! Now its 9 days before Christmas and my little 3 foot tree has no ornaments so decided to make some. Will go out to the shed today and try to attempt to dig out some of the decorations. I'm so pleased to have this little tree as my neighbor was very generous to give it to me and its prelit kind!!! I had no room for my 6 ft one and this is perfect. God Bless you neighbor!!!! Thank God for the good people in this world. I'm not in the festive mood so trying to get there with this little tree. And I promised Barbie to bake gingerbread men so will have to at lest try to get in the holiday mood. I keep reminding myself its Jesus birthday and I should be celebrating that!!! These seem like they took forever, although I guess not really, My hands are now freezing in place so good thing im done. These are for my nieces who are 1 and 2 (yes I said that in my last post) I missed one of there birthdays so this is really a birthday present. I don't think i will get any christmas gift done this year (well for Barbie I want to make a few dresses for her bitty baby and the American girl doll my oldest daughter is giving her) Other than that I have a feeling my hands or shoulders (who ache beyound words) wont allow much more. Hopefully my Dr will do something more for this pain! I did modify the pattern as they called for letters on the soup can, and everything was supposed to be glued but it was for younger children so I figured the sewing would be a better idea. All of it with the exception of the milk carton, was from a pattern. The milk carton I winged or faked it and it came out pretty much to my likeing. I had memories of doing embrodery in the 70's when I decided my jeans had to be decorated with embrodery. Was a good memory! God Bless Marion

Really no one lost any. Just thought the title was catchy. Last Sunday my sweet (4 yr old) twin grandsons looked up at me with those big sweet eyes and said "Grandma can you make me some Mittens) How could I deny the children. Knowing that they will return on Sunday for Church and to visit I got busy making mittens. Now there are not only the twins but the oldest girl 7, and the youngest girl 2. Now I have 4 pair of nice warm fleece mittens for them and a day ahead of time. Now Barbie wants a pair. LOL

Today was a glorious mail day! Two stories go with the two pictures
The single skein is a thank you gift from Nikki from http://my7kids.etsy.com. I was reading her blog (http://Mysevenkids.blogspot.com)
She also sent me a sample of her handmade soap Peaches n cream. Ok so back to reading her blog. I can't imange having that many kids at home at once. Along with all them kids, she knits, spins, finds the yarn and takes apart old sweaters and resells them. She is awesome in my book. This was my thoughts while reading her blog. So I decided that since I make spindles and she is just beginning spinning, I should send her a spindle. I made her one of my wagon wheel spindles, then added to the package another spindle I had, a donut pincushion, some sample fibers, and some of my homespun. I hope she loves it all.
Now the pic with all the yarn. (30 skeins) Man this lady is generous or what? One of my groups I'm in. (mittens for akkol) She had posted she had some eyelash type yarn that she would give anyone who had 5 dollars for shipping. Of coarse I jumped on it as my sister just learned to knit and loves the stuff for scarves. I sent her the 5 dollars for shipping and she had emailed me back saying she had more did I want more. I sent her a email back thanking her and saying I was sorry but money was tight. She promptly emailed me back and said no prob she would send me a bunch anyway. Then she saw my pumpkin on the blog here and wanted to know if I would be willing to sell her one. I emailed her back and told her I would send her one no charge as a thank you!!! Her name is Kathleen by the way.

Enjoying Fall

Today while sitting on my porch I enjoyed looking at the leaves fall. The wind was blowing and seeing the leaves dance down the middle of the street, thoughts of people scrambling to get somewhere quickly (like running out of a burning building) LOL The air is getting crisp but nice around 50 during the days. These three pictures are some of the Gifts from God I enjoyed. I was wishing I had taken pictures this morning when the stars in the sky we so bright that they looked as if you could just reach out and grab them. Twinkling in the sky so beautifully! The Tree with the yellow leaves is across the street from us. The tree with the beautiful oranges is down the street. And then a picture of our yard and mobile home.

my gifts and a monkey

My eldest daughter Colleen came to vist us for 5 wonderful short days! We had a great time. She arrived on Thursday morning. Waisting no time we went shopping at Cost Co where she spoiled me and took care of me getting me vitimins. LOL She filled my gas tank and laughed at me as I squealed with wonder when the tank hit full and over. Silly me! The seconed day was Halloween, so we took it easy and then took Barbie trick or treating. Saturday was another full day of eating out and that evening I drove Barbie and Colleen to a haunted corn field. Barbie cried all the way through it and was very scared. We learned not to do that again. Was a bit dissapointing for Colleen but we had no idea. Sunday was Church and then out to eat at this wonderful restruant we found. Oh for got to mention on Saturday we went to the park and played then found a garage sale and she bought me the christmas fabric and pompoms. Monday we went to BarnsandKnoble and she got The cute book and the Shack. Love the books! Sadly Monday night was time for her to fly home. Barbie cried all the way home from the airport. She will return and I totally enjoyed her visit. Today I had to make a item from my The cute book so that is where the monkey comes in.

Somehow latley I can't seem to follow any written directions or my eyes wont allow me to do simple work. Then there are my hands who just quit holding onto things that im gripping. Barbie and our new family Member Lilly

My neighbor (Missy) got this pup when it was just a few wks old, she is now 4 months old. Missy dropper fed her till she was weened. (problems with the mother dog) She had intended on keeping her but at first thought she was a he, then when she had her for a bit decided she should be mine. I said no for a month, and then broke down and couldnt say no again. So She is ours now. She is a very sweet dog and needed more potty training and we are working on that. I have to say (after I tell you she goes out for a walk several times a day) she has not pottied in the house thus far. We have had her for 4 days now! She is a good pup!

This was so fun to make! I saw a pattern you could buy but thought I could figure it out by myself. (As most who know me know I never have money LOL) So went though my fabric and found the dark brown (choc donut) Then it was just figure out how to stuff and sew. I used invisible thread yes it was a pain but paid off! Barbie (my 8 yr old got really upset with me as she said "Mom dont show me that now I want a donut" It was pretty funny as she was really annoyed we didnt have any! So now I have to figure out what food I want to make next lmao

My first knitted glove

So I'm not so impressed with my first glove, but after all it was my very first and maybe the second one will look better, or not. But I did complete one and I do know allot of people who have never attempted gloves before. So I give myself credit for that. Besides Barbie is happily waiting for the second one, she wanted to wear this one (knowing that it is 90+ degrees today) while she did her homework. Then she decided it was to awkward. Nothing like a smiling child to make your knitting an accomplishment! This is a neighbor child who also is a class mate of Barbie's. I'm a little disappointed that hat came out so large but I keep forgetting how much smaller this child really is than Barbie. She didn't happen to have pony tails in but that is what the hat was made for. The mittens fit her to a T! All that matters is she is happy! And warm of coarse! She looked up at me this morning and asked if I could do butterflies on the next mittens and hat. hmmmm will have to look into that. (I have made her mittens for the past 2 yrs now

key Chain crochet hook

I saw this on someone's blog, not sure where so I could give her credit. Any way its a crochet hook on a key type chain. You know when you are somewhere and you have dropped stiches and panic! Well this little gaget is a saviour. I have to admit I made mine for me. I took a size K alum hook drilled a hole in the flat part then used a hack saw to cut off the end just where the flat part starts. added the hook gizmo and there you go!!

Here it is! I couldn't get Barbie to stand still long enough to get a pic I will try later and add to this post. I had some problems reading the pattern but I think its my experience level so will have to pay more attention next time. I think if I do it again I will use heavier yarn as I think it should have been a bit bigger as I made a size 10. Now I'm working on Mittens and hats for 2 neighbor girls.
